Multilingual Distress Lines:
In order to respond to the growing needs of the diverse community in the Region of Peel, Spectra Community Support Services has expanded its services to include distress line and crisis intervention support in various languages in addition to English, as well as for people with disabilities and the LGBT community.
Distress lines in Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu were launched in 2005. Spanish came two years later, followed by Portuguese in 2009. Cantonese and Mandarin are the most recent additions to our distress line service. These specific lines are all open from Monday to Friday -10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
