Telecare Distress Centre is now
Spectra Community Support Services
On June 23rd 2010, Brampton's Pearson Convention Centre was host to the official introduction of Spectra Community Support Services to friends, supporters, and community partners in Peel region.
Founded 37 years ago as "Telecare Distress Centre", the non-profit organization had come to be widely known to Brampton, Caledon, and Mississauga residents for its caring and confidential Distress Line support program. As the community grew and expanded, so did the organization. Today, Spectra Community Support Services meets the needs of a diverse community through multilingual support programs such as the highly successful TeleCheck program for seniors; a new adult Reassurance program (to prevent situations which can escalate into crisis); and the most recent addition which is rapidly gaining momentum - the Peel Postpartum Family Support Line.
